DODGE

Dodge is a U.S.-based producer of consumer vehicles that was founded in 1900. Now a part of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles conglomerate, the head office of Dodge remains located in the Auburn Hills suburb of Detroit in Michigan.

When the Dodge company was acquired by Chrysler in 1928, efforts were immediately undertaken to establish the brand as a major player in the North American auto market. By 1950, Dodge was producing well-received models including the Meadowbrook, the Coronet, the Royal and the Wayfarer. They also introduced a popular station wagon, the Sierra Wagon, before entering the so-called “muscle car” field in the 1960s with the Dodge Charger. As well, Dodge manufactured a few small cars designed for and marketed to city residents, including the Dart and the Lancer, both of which sold well throughout the decade.
While Dodge focused primarily on the production of mass-market trucks and larger sedans during the 1970s, releasing models including the Aspen, the Diplomat and the Monaco, the company was quick to enter the emerging compact market in the 1980s at a time when fuel prices were high and consumers were more focused on the efficiency - rather than the performance - of their vehicles.

The Dodge Aries, a compact and austere family car that was a part of Chrysler’s K-Car series, preceded the introduction of the Dodge Caravan, which is considered to be the first minivan ever produced. After the Caravan, minivans became an overwhelmingly popular vehicle option with families throughout the 1980s and 90s.
The 1990s saw Dodge focus on the introduction of several sport-styled cars including the Spirit and the Stealth; within a few years this focus reached its ultimate potential with the Dodge Viper, a sports car with a powerful V-10 engine which was released to the market with a large-scale advertising campaign and to media fanfare.

In 2015, Dodge offered models including the Challenger, the Charger, Durango, Journey, the Dart and the Grand Caravan, as well as the newly styled 2015 Viper. Dodge Ram trucks also remain solid sellers for Dodge: the 1500, 2500, 3500 and Ram Chassis Cab all contribute reliability and capability to the Dodge vehicle family. The Ram ProMaster series of vans provide solutions for companies and individuals who have to move cargo, valuables, or people from one place to another in comfort and style. The ProMaster vans have a distinctly European feel and design, and are designed to provide maximum delivery capacity in a relatively tall body made for narrow city streets.
