Bilingual Staff Accountant

We are currently recruiting for a bilingual Staff Accountant to join our finance team at the Ottawa office. Main Job Responsibilities: • Timely completion of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in a fast-paced environment • Perform and support month-end processing and reporting procedures • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual government remittances for review and submission • Complete monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet and income statement accounts • Help improve the company’s processes & records management system • Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS, knowledge of US GAAP • Preparation and reconciliation of monthly working papers for monthly, internal and annual external year-end audit • Proven Experience with Quebec's CCQ payroll and monthly CCQ reporting • Maintain fixed assets and intangibles and Capital Lease schedules • Preparation of T2 supporting schedules for multi Canadian jurisdictions, including Quebec • Compile and communicate various month-end analysis for management • Collect, interpret, and analyze variances on a monthly base • Internal audit of GST/GST/QST/PST/RST on a monthly base • Payroll experience (ADP) Key Knowledge, Skills and Experience: • A minimum of 5 years financial accounting experience in a public accounting firm or in the private sector • Degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or a related field is required. CPA designation or pursuing designation would be considered an asset. • Ability to work independently and to organize work with sound judgement and attention to detail • Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, correct, and manage accounting figures and financial records • Demonstrated time management skills, ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands • Highly organized, and able to meet tight deadlines • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Bilingualism — French and English (spoken and written) • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficient Microsoft office software • Ability to adapt to new technology • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment • Adapts easily to change • Understands the overall accounting relational structure • Team player, the ability to pick up a task and help get things done • Can build and maintain positive relationships with others • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team If you are looking for a career opportunity, email your resume to ottawa@roberthalf.com or call Tracy and/or Stuart at 613-236-4253 today!
